L'arte del dolce far niente, the art of sweet and total repose, defines life at Fichimori, a beautifully refurbished, romantic retreat in the Puglian countryside. Emerald green lawns wrap around a cerulean pool, vibrant white walls melt into honey-stone terraces, while traditional dry-stone walls and salt-and-pepper trulli cones root the whole in its context. Step inside and the pleasures of Puglia's chic modern vernacular continue to delight.

The Area
Fichimori sits amongst the rolling hills of the Valle d'Itria a few kilometres outside the charming town of Martina Franca. The Valle d'Itria is probably best known for its trulli, and nowhere are these more in evidence than in the picture-postcard town of Alberobello. Several other lovely towns, such as Locorotondo, Cisternino and Ostuni, a beautifully restored baroque town with stunning panoramic views, are close by. Taranto is also well worth a visit and easy to get to. If you are looking for beaches, the Adriatic coast offers stretches of sandy and rocky coast and some excellent lidos. The Ionian Sea is a little bit further but the long expanses of sandy beach found there are amongst the loveliest in the Med. Further afield, Lecce, Gallipoli, Otranto and Monopoli are justly famous towns waiting for you to unlock their secrets.

Our stay at Fichimori was everything we had hoped for and more. The owner and his team clearly put much time and effort into making Fichimori a carefree zone. The villa kitchen is extremely well equipped - thinking of the honour wine cellar in particular, the pizza night and the enormous welcome baskets. The wonderful women of the villa support team are amazing (efficient and never intrusive), the grounds and amenities carefully constructed and perfectly kept. The fruit trees, the kitchen garden, the herb garden were all delightful surprise. There are multiple private spots around the large property to sit in the sun and admire the view which we loved. There were no disappointments at Fichimori and we will definitely be recommending this particular villa to our friends and family. When considering this type of vacation again The Thinking Traveller will be our first point of enquiry.

Fichimori is extremely well equipped (one of the very best we have enjoyed). There are plenty of lovely seating areas designed for outdoor living and the interior is tastefully furnished. The owner was delightful and very helpful, providing a very generous and well stocked ‘welcome hamper’.

We had the best vacation of our lives at Fichimori! It's great for all ages, relaxing, comfortable, and we were really able to detach and unwind! It's a fantastic villa and we particularly loved the luxury level renovation, the décor, and the amenities.

The villa itself exceeded expectations. The grounds were lovely and private with a great pool and comfortable outdoor furniture. The villa was equipped with high-end appliances in the kitchen and great kitchenware, the spa was an added bonus.

We were unprepared for the beauty of Puglia and the Valle d’Itria. But as soon as we landed at Fichimori, we knew we were somewhere special. The Trullo was perfect for four, although the outdoor spaces went on for days and beckoned larger friend and family gatherings. To be continued for us! Our host was wonderful and generous, greeting us with baskets of food, which was an unexpectedly fresh and bountiful surprise. We enjoyed all the spaces in Fichimori, the pool, the spa, and the pizza oven. We cooked meals when we were not exploring the nearby towns and eating the delicious local foods.
