Flying to Patmos

Nearest Airports

Patmos does not have an airport. You can reach Patmos via several nearby airports. Kos (Kos Island International Airport – KGS) and Samos (Samos International Airport “Aristarchos of Samos” – SMI) both operate international flights.

Leros (Leros Municipal Airport – LRS) and Ikaria (Ikaria Island National Airport – JIK) are also nearby, offering regional flight connections within Greece.

During the summer months, there are direct flights from London to Kos (KGS). From Kos Airport, a short taxi ride will take you to the port, where you can catch a ferry to Patmos.

For travelers from North America, the best route is to fly to Kos (KGS) with a layover in a major European hub—commonly Vienna (VIE), Frankfurt (FRA), or Munich (MUC). If flying from the West Coast, expect two layovers instead of one. Upon arrival in Kos, take a taxi to the port and then continue by ferry to Patmos.

From Australia and New Zealand, flights to Kos (KGS) typically require two or three layovers. If departing from New Zealand, it’s advisable to fly to Sydney (SYD) first, and then connect onwards to Greece from there.
