Our guide to Paxos and Antipaxos

As serene as the Venetian Republic that ruled them for so many centuries, and as laid-back as the gentle whispers of wind that temper the summer sun, Paxos and Antipaxos are carefree Greek idylls.

Getting there

Due to the relatively limited number of hydrofoil/ferry connections between Corfu and Paxos in the shoulder seasons, we recommend arriving in Corfu by midday or, alternatively, adding a night in Corfu town the day before and/or after your time in Paxos. Sea taxis are also available.

Good to know

  • Surface area: 30km2 (approx)
  • Population: 2,400 (approx)
  • Best sunset: from Eremitis bar on the west coast cliffs
  • The little sister: Antipaxos only has about 30 permanent residents
  • Island culture: Paxos hosts a bi-annual contemporary art festival and a long-standing classical music festival

From our local specialist

Tree Doorway
"For a little adventure, I recommend a guided kayaking tour along the west coast of Paxos, with its sea caves, its dramatic white cliffs and its transparent waters. It’s great fun and you’ll see a side of Paxos that most people never will."
