Please note that whilst there are 6 bedrooms at Cala D'Istria, as well as the possibility of requesting the garden Cabin, the maximum occupancy of the villa remains 10.

Please note that the 'on request' bedroom is not ordinarily open to guests, but can be made available with payment of a small extra fee.

NB: A double-twin bedroom has two single beds that can either be joined together to create a double bed or left separate as two single beds.

Reduced Occupancy

During the shoulder seasons, Cala d'Istria has reduced prices for groups of 6, sleeping in 3 bedrooms. The bedrooms not required will be closed, but the rest of the villa, its amenities and its grounds will remain at the complete disposal of guests. If unspecified, the best bedrooms will be prepared for you.

Inside

accommodation at Cala d'Istria develops over two floors of the main house and an independently accessed garden guest room.

The entrance to the main house takes one into the first floor and a luminous and voluminous open-concept living and dining area and kitchen. One's eye is immediately drawn to the two sets of room-wide, floor-to-ceiling glass sliding doors. On one side, these open up onto a large decked terrace with sea views; on the other one may access a Japanese-style garden with outdoor kitchen, a large al fresco dining table and an ornamental pond.

On the right of the large open-plan space is the superbly equipped modern kitchen, which features, amongst other things, an island-cum-breakfast bar, a wine cooler and a charcuterie slicer.

In the centre is a convivial dining table, and to the left the comfy living area, whose soft sink-in sofas wrap around the focal point of the room, a designer fireplace set into a partition wall of brick and bookshelves.

One may pass on either side of the fireplace to an open study, off which, and accessed via two sets of sliding doors, is the main bedroom. Here, another wall of sliding glass doors offer jaw-dropping views over the fabulous pool and out to sea. The bed is placed in the centre of the room, which features an open bathroom, complete with panoramic tub, a glass shower cubicle and double sinks. Towards the back of this bedroom is a (closed) w/c.

Stairs from the study area on the first floor lead down to the ground floor, where there is a TV snug and five bedrooms:

• two double bedrooms with en-suite shower rooms
• a double-twin room and one with a French bed sharing a bathroom with tub and a separate WC

These four bedrooms are accessed from a corridor and boast garden and sea views and large sliding glass doors accessing a decked terrace.

The sixth bedroom, a double with en-suite shower room and large glass sliding doors opening out into the gardens is available on request for an extra fee.

Outside

a description of the outdoor areas at Cala d'Istria must begin with the unique, three-tiered heatable pool, whose west-facing, glass infinity edge, suspended over the gardens, looks directly out to sea and the sunset - even when you're underwater! The smaller top two tiers have shallow water, ideal for younger children.

To the right of the pool, a large expanse of partially shaded terraced decking provides ample space for lounging and dining. All of this is accessed via the walls of glass sliding doors in the indoor communal areas and from the master bedroom.

On the other side of the property, accessed once more from the living and dining area, is a second, sheltered, al fresco dining area surrounded by a Japanese-inspired garden and equipped with a plancha grill and a sink.

Four of the bedrooms on the ground floor have access to a decked terrace (with steps up to the pool area) and the extensive surrounding gardens, which fan out towards the sea. Tucked away in the grounds, and linked by wooden boardwalk paths is a superbly equipped gym, a massage room, and an al fresco cinema.

Last but certainly not least, a path leads through the grounds for about 250m to a little stretch of beach used by guests of Cala d'Istira and a handful of other properties in the area.

Cala d'Istria features a fantastic infinity pool, offering swimmers stunning views out to sea while in the pool. There is a drop from the infinity edge so we recommend children are supervised at all times. Please refer to our general safety page if you would like more information about infinity pools.

The grounds of Cala d'Istria are quite extensive and include a little pond so we recommend that children are supervised by an adult when exploring.

During the high season, especially at weekends, you may occasionally hear planes arriving at the nearby Figari airport.
