Flights, car hire and travel information
Tuscany, the heart of central Italy, is accessible by air, rail, and car, with excellent connections from across Europe and the rest of Italy. With two main international airports, a comprehensive train network, and iconic scenic road routes, it's easy to reach cities, hilltowns and villas throughout the region, from Florence and Siena to the Chianti countryside and the Cinque Terre coast.
Flying into Tuscany
Nearest Airports
Tuscany is accessible by two main airports:
- Florence Peretola Airport (FLR) – Best for Florence, Fiesole, the Chianti region, and central Tuscany including Siena and Arezzo.
- Pisa International Airport (PSA) – Convenient for western Tuscany, including Lucca, Pisa, the Versilia coast, and with good rail connections on to Florence.
Both airports offer direct flights from major European cities, including London, Paris, Amsterdam, Munich, and Zurich. From outside Europe, travellers typically connect via Rome (FCO) or Milan (MXP or LIN).

Mid-week arrivals may be possible at selected villas outside the peak season. To make the most of more convenient flight options or tailor your travel plans, simply speak with your Villa Specialist before confirming your stay. We're here to offer expert advice and support every step of the way.

Ferries
While Tuscany isn't a primary ferry hub, the port of Livorno connects to Sardinia, Sicily, and Corsica by ferry — a useful option if combining Tuscany with island travel.

Train via Mainland Italy
Tuscany is well connected by Italy's high-speed and regional rail network:
- From Rome, high-speed Frecciarossa trains reach Florence in under 1.5 hours, making it easy to combine the two cities.
- From Milan, trains run to Florence in under 2 hours, with onward connections to Siena, Arezzo, Lucca, and Pisa.
