Painstakingly restored and stylishly furnished with mid-century vintage pieces, Dimora Piano effortlessly combines original charm with a spirited sense of élan to create a home that is in equal parts welcoming, authentic, and eclectic. Colourful art works adorn the walls, fixtures and fittings have been expertly and discreetly inserted, and a creative approach to interior design has transformed the building's many niches, alcoves and recesses into meaningful modern spaces.

Most of the accommodation at Dimora Piano is found on the ground floor of the main house, at the centre of which is a welcoming, character-filled entrance hall. With its antique-tiled flooring, thick stone walls, and conical trullo-ceiling, this space offers guests a tempting glimpse of the property's architectural heritage.

Straight ahead is the guest WC, while to the left, an opening leads into the kitchen-diner, which features lofty, barrel-vaulted stone ceilings, and small squares of dark-hued floor tiles that also clad one of the walls. To one side is the practical, well-equipped contemporary kitchen, while to the other is a round glass dining table and chairs.

To the far end of the kitchen-diner, a few steps lead up and then down to the first reception room, a luminous, airy space furnished with a pair of long, well-cushioned daybed sofas upholstered in rich green. A large feature window brings in the light, and a door opens out onto the surrounding terraces.

At one side of this living room seven steps lead down to what would have once been a semi-subterranean agricultural storeroom. Its barrel-vaulted ceilings arc over a pair of daybeds and a couple of easy chairs, while sunlight filters in through two small windows, one at each end. This cool, cosy space is a lovely spot in which to curl up with a book or take a snooze in the afternoon.

Between the kitchen and the first reception room, a flight of stairs leads up to a sunny terrace with views over the trulli cones and the grounds, and access to a quiet study with a desk and a chaise-longue, perfect if you need to catch up on any work while away.

Back in the central entrance hall and turning right, we come to a snug sitting area with a sofa, and, tucked away behind bespoke cabinet doors, a TV.

This space provides access to three of the property's four bedrooms, the first directly, the others via a short corridor:

• a double with en-suite shower room and direct access to the surrounding terraces
• a spacious double-twin with en-suite shower room and direct access to the surrounding terraces
• a double with en-suite shower room and garden views

The fourth and final bedroom, a double with en-suite shower room, is located on the first floor of the main house and accessed via an external, covered staircase. It opens out onto a super-panoramic roof terrace.

Accommodation at Dimora Piano is completed by a separate communal hub located just across the terraces from the main house. This generously proportioned, sociable space provides the perfect ambience in which to gather for convivial moments. Featuring stone-flagged floors, it has a large, stainless-steel kitchen area, a central dining table, and a comfortably furnished living area with plenty of bronze-upholstered, vintage seating surrounding an impressive decorative fireplace. It is served by a guest WC.  

Outside

immersed in around 7.5 acres of terraces, gardens, olive groves, and agricultural land, Dimora Piano offers a great deal in terms of al fresco living.

In the immediate environs of the main house and the communal hub, wide, geometrically aligned paths weave around flower beds planted with exotic cacti, breeze-caressed ornamental grasses, floral bushes, and the occasional olive tree.

These paths leads to a series of well-designed al fresco areas, each one dedicated to a different pleasure. Just beyond the guesthouse is a pergola housing a bar, with counter, stools, a sink and fridges. Behind the bar is the barbecue area.

A few metres from here across the grass is an aia, a circular area of well-worn chianche (stone flags), that was once used for threshing wheat. Furnished with easy chairs and a large, built-in lounge area, and gazing out across the grounds, this is the place to be for lazy times in the sun.

An interconnecting path from here leads to the cane-shaded al fresco dining area, where you will take most of your meals. It too, has soothing views across the grounds.

To one side of the property, meanwhile, is the lovely pool area, which comes with an open-air shower and quality sun loungers.

The two aces up Dimora Piano's sleeves are its upper floor terraces, both of which offer sweeping panoramas of the grounds and the surrounding countryside. The first, outside the upper-floor bedroom, is furnished for sitting and lounging, and one can happily imagine doing a daily yoga session up here. It's also a great spot for a sundowner. The second, accessed via an internal staircase between the kitchen and the main reception room, is just outside the study.

Due to the nature of this property, we cannot accept bookings with children under the age of 18.

The number of steps that must be negotiated to get into and around this property might make it unsuitable for people with reduced mobility.

Please note that the pool has a single depth of 1.5m.
