Airport assistance
Our car rental service includes complimentary assistance at the airport.
A representative from our car rental partner will be waiting for you at the airport. We will provide them with all the necessary information to prepare your rental agreement before your arrival.
This means that you can avoid waiting in queues at the airport and enjoy your vacation from the moment you arrive!
In-villa delivery
If you don't want to drive at the beginning or end of your holiday, we can organise a private port or airport transfer for your group, then have your rental car brought to the villa when you're ready to start exploring or arrange a pick-up from there before you depart.
INSURANCE
We strongly recommend obtaining full car rental insurance for your trip to Sicily.
Many villas are reached via narrow or unpaved countryside roads that can cause minor scratches or marks. Local car hire companies are strict about charging for any damage, and we’re unable to assist with damage claims.
- Premium insurance: Zero Excess for Damage and Theft, no administration fee unless a damage incident is involved.
- Comfort insurance: Zero Excess for Damage, limited excess for theft: €500 (B-B1-C-C1), €600 (D-D1-P-P1-F-F1), €1000 (L-L1-G-G1-V-V1), no administration fee unless a damage incident is involved.
Disclaimers
One way fee:
- A one-way car hire between Catania and Palermo areas typically incurs a drop-off fee of €122. The fee will be waived in case you book car delivery or collection.
Driving Licence Requirements:
- All drivers must hold a valid driving licence and be at least 21years old, with one year of driving experience.
- If you do not hold a UK or EU licence, you may be required by local authorities to obtain an International Driving Permit (IDP). This is typically straightforward to arrange—contact the authority that issued your licence to request the relevant application form.
Fine Handling Administration Fee:
- Where the car hire company is notified of a fine relating to your rental, they will pass the details on to you and apply an administration fee of €30.50 for handling the notification.
Responsibility and Disputes:
- The Thinking Traveller acts as an introducer to car hire companies and cannot mediate or negotiate on your behalf in the event of any damage, disputes, or disagreements with the rental provider.
We strongly recommend reading the full terms and conditions of your car hire agreement upon booking and prior to collecting your vehicle.
