NB: A double-twin bedroom has two single beds that can either be joined together to create a double bed or left separate as two single beds.

Inside

accommodation at Oktana develops over a main house on three levels and two externally accessed guest rooms.

The middle floor of the main house is home to a sweep of sociable spaces that flow easily, one into the other. First is the living room, a serene and convivial spot, whose pristine, white walls, sandy-hued floors and immaculate finish create an atmosphere of tranquillity and quality that gently radiates throughout the property. To one side sits a commodious, contemporary, L-shaped sofa, an ottoman, and a discreet fireplace surmounted by a TV. Walls of glass drink in the fabulous views out to sea, while at the same time ensuring a friction-free indoor-outdoor lifestyle.

An opening to the side of the living area leads into the dining-kitchen, which is laid out over two levels. Below is a large wooden table and stylish wood-and-rattan bistro chairs that look out to sea via a pair of floor-to-ceiling glass doors. Up three steps is the sleek kitchen, which features banks of wooden cabinetry, a central island, a host of hi-spec appliances, and another wall of sliding glass opening out onto a secluded dining terrace.

Towards the back of the kitchen is a guest WC and the lift.

To one side of the kitchen-diner, stairs lead up and down to the first and the lower ground floors.

On the first floor is:

• the principal bedroom, a double with a walk-through wardrobe, sea views, access to a large, shared terrace,

and an en-suite bathroom with stand-alone tub and walk-in shower

• a second sea-view double with in-room sink, en-suite wet room, separate WC, and access to the large, shared terrace

The lower ground floor is home to three more sea-view bedrooms:

• two spacious sea-view doubles with comfy sofas, en-suite shower rooms and sliding glass doors opening out onto a shaded terrace
• a double-twin, also with sea views, an en-suite shower room, and access to the shaded terrace

The lower ground floor also accommodates the housekeeper’s quarters and the laundry room.

The two externally accessed guest rooms are located up some steps above the main house. There’s a double and a double-twin, each with magnificent sea views, an en-suite shower room, and a shared central terrace.

Outside

one of the Oktana’s al fresco highlights are its tiered gardens, which feature massive boulders, buttery dry-stone walls, and a wide variety of low-lying shrubs, flowering plants and ornamental grasses. Steps lead down, past a solarium equipped with sun loungers, to a pair of gates, which open out onto a secluded little rocky bay and the transparent waters of the Aegean.

The gorgeous sea does have a rival, though, in Oktana’s irresistible L-shaped infinity pool, which sits serenely to one side of the spacious terrace accessed from the main house’s communal areas via banks of sliding glass doors. A secluded, well-furnished sitting area outside the dining room offers a shady spot from which to survey the glorious views, and there's plenty of space around the pool for sun-worshipping.

On the far side of the pool is a gorgeous and al fresco dining area served by a well-equipped al fresco kitchen and barbecue. Boasting more of those wonderful sea views, this is convivial spot will certainly challenge any ideas you might have had about going out for dinner.

The bedrooms on the first floor of the main house access a large terrace furnished with a table and chairs, while the lower floor bedrooms all open out onto a wide expanse of sea-view terrace that's partly shaded by the cantilevered extension of the pool area.

Last but not least, the two guest bedrooms share a shaded terrace with a kitchen corner and dining table. Arguably, the views are at their very best from here.

Due to the nature of the property, including terraces, low walls, a lot of steps, and several drops around the grounds, we cannot accept bookings for groups with children under the age of 13.

Oktana features a fantastic infinity pool, offering swimmers stunning views while in the pool. There is a drop off the infinity side so we recommend children are supervised at all times. Please refer to our general safety page if you would like more information about infinity pools.

When the ferry connections timetable is not yet published for your travel dates, we recommend choosing a flight arriving in Athens or Mykonos by midday or, alternatively, adding a night in Athens or Mykonos the day before and/or after your time in Syros.

The number of steps that must be negotiated to get into and/or around this property might make it unsuitable for people with mobility problems.

Please note that this property is located in a residential area and therefore has neighbours. Some areas of the property are overlooked.

One of Oktana's two sea gates leads out onto the small, shaded, pebbly beach of Sousouni. The other opens out onto large, smooth rocks and we urge caution when entering/getting out of the water here, especially if the water is choppy. In general, the water is calm, but children must be supervised at all times.

Oktana features fully retractable walls of sliding glass doors. Please be sure they are open when moving the indoor and outdoor spaces.

Please note that due to the risk of wildfires, the use of fire pits and barbecues is restricted when the weather is windy or temperatures are high. This is particularly common in July and August. More information will be provided in your House Guide and via your local specialist.
