Inside

accommodation at Spiti Albero is organised over a voluminous, open-concept communal space and five externally accessed guest rooms located some 20m-30m away. The philosophy behind the project is evident: create a fabulously sociable hub where everyone can gather in style, while at the same time ensuring that each guest has their own space for private moments.

The heart of the property is the tremendous communal area, which has church-like dimensions – around 20m in length, over 7m in width, and around 5m in height. Divided into two equal sections, the second is effectively the al fresco doppelgänger of the first. Furnishings, fittings, lighting and décor are an eclectic mix of styles and colours that blend together harmoniously.

At one end is a spacious, fabulously well-equipped open kitchen with multi-hued sea-blue tiles, a curvaceous dining table, and fully retractable sliding glass doors looking out to the sea.

On either side of the kitchen, a few steps lead down to the living area, which is furnished with a large, well-cushioned, built-in sofa, a contemporary design sofa, and a pair of capacious, burnt orange, sink-in armchairs. Sea views flood in via more fully retractable sliding glass doors.

The living area is delimited, or not, by an entire wall of folding glass doors, which, when open, allow the space, like the sandy flooring, to flow seamlessly into the al fresco communal space. Here, once again we have lofty wood-beamed ceilings, but this time topped with cane. One wall is completely open allowing guests to marvel at the sea views and move effortlessly out to the pool area; the others are in local stone, with a couple of apertures connecting to the rear terraces. This most welcoming of spaces hosts a wall of built-in cushioned seating, a dining table, and a kitchen with barbecue and bar clad in bronze tiles.

A path of paved steps leads from the communal hub up to the five independent guests bedrooms. All have stunning sea views, sandy, poured concrete flooring, cane-fronted storage, and fully retractable glass doors opening out onto panoramic, shaded terraces. In detail there is:

• a double with a centrally positioned bed and an en-suite shower room
• a children’s quadruple with two sets of artfully designed bunk beds, lofty wood-beamed ceilings and an en-suite shower room
• three more doubles with centrally positioned beds and en-suite shower rooms

Outside

al fresco life at Spiti Albero plays out between the previously described indoor-outdoor social hub and a long, uber-panoramic terrace just outside.

Running the entire length of the façade, and offering hypnotic, 180-degree views of the sparkling Ionian Sea, this terrace has been designed with the same rigour as the interiors. Sitting in pride of place is the spectacular, 25m-long infinity pool, which incorporates a beach-effect shallow end that’s perfect for cooling off in. To one end of the pool is a comfy lounge area featuring a commodious, well-cushioned, L-shaped sofa. To the other, quality sun loungers line up temptingly.

The terrace wraps around two side of the communal hub, where there is a charming al fresco shower area at one end, and a table and chairs at the other. From this latter, a variety of stone-flagged paths and steps fan out around the property. Two of these lead up to the bedrooms, which may also be accessed via a sloping gravel driveway. All the bedrooms have their own shady, sea-view terraces.

Another path of steps climbs up behind the communal hub, where, shaded by fragrant pine trees and cypresses, is another fabulously panoramic spot in which to relax, read, chat, or snooze.

The terraced grounds are entirely private, secluded by mature woodland, and a delight to spend time in and explore.

Due to the nature of the property, which includes terraces, low walls and several drops around the grounds, children must be supervised at all times.

Spiti Albero features a fantastic infinity pool, offering swimmers stunning views while in the pool. There is a drop off the infinity side so we recommend children are supervised at all times. Please refer to our general safety page if you would like more information about infinity pools.

Due to the relatively limited number of hydrofoil/ferry connections between Corfu and Paxos in the shoulder seasons, we recommend arriving in Corfu by midday or, alternatively, adding a night in Corfu town the day before and/or after your time in Paxos.

The number of steps that must be negotiated to get into and/or around this property might make it unsuitable for people with limited mobility.

Please note that due to the risk of wildfires, the use of fire pits and barbecues is restricted when the weather is windy or temperatures are high. This is particularly common in July and August. More information will be provided in your House Guide and via your local specialist.
