Reduced Occupancy

During the shoulder seasons, Michaela has a reduced price for a group of up to 12 that only need up to 6 bedrooms. The two guesthouse apartments will be closed, but the rest of the villa, its amenities and its grounds will remain at the complete disposal of guests. Should you book the reduced occupancy, bedrooms 1-6 will be prepared for you.

Inside

accommodation at Michaela is laid out over a main house, whose three levels are connected internally by both stairs and a lift, and a guesthouse with two independent apartments.

The main house

From the parking area, one may either access the top level of the main house or take some steps (or the lift) down to the middle level, where we’ll begin our tour.

The main entrance to the middle floor is via a long, secluded terrace with monumental stone walls and a pair of life-size, bowing statues that extend a gracious welcome to guests as they arrive. As you will discover while exploring the property, statues, sculptures, and contemporary artworks are a constant theme.

Double glass doors open into a serene, airy, and generously proportioned communal space that typifies the overall aesthetics of the property: a 13m-long wall of floor-to-ceiling glass doors frame the enchanting views of the Ionian Sea and the Greek mainland, while at the same time providing seamless access to the pool terrace; pristine white walls and lofty ceilings provide the perfect canvas for contemporary artworks; and pearly grey flooring unites the space in an organic sweep. The attention to detail, the quality of both furnishings and fittings, and the thought that has gone into the design of Michaela is evident at every turn.

To the right of this communal space is a handsomely furnished sitting with a pair of large white sofas, two capacious easy chairs, a central coffee table made out of venerable, reclaimed wood, and a designer fireplace. To the left, meanwhile, is a round marble dining table surrounded by black chairs and overlooked by a large work of art.

The remaining accommodation on the middle floor is accessed from near the dining area:

• to one side, a short corridor leads past a guest WC to the sleek, minimalist, all-white kitchen, which conveniently opens out onto a terrace with an al fresco kitchen
• to the other, guarded by a benevolent, life-size statue, is the first bedroom, a fabulously panoramic double-aspect double with sea views, access to the pool terrace, and an en-suite shower room, which, like all the bathrooms in the property, has been exquisitely finished in marble.

A flight of wooden stairs near the main entrance leads up to the top floor, which may also be accessed externally (or by the internal life). Here, off a long, fully glazed corridor, are three suites:

• the principal suite, a triple-aspect space with centrally positioned double bed, inspiring sea views, a sitting area with a sofa and two armchairs, a private balcony, an in-room shower for two (with sea views), and an en-suite bathroom
• two generously spacious suites each with a double bed, white-washed herringbone wooden flooring, a sitting area, an en-suite shower room, and a wall of sea-view windows that open out onto a shared balcony

The lower floor, which is accessed either via stairs from the main communal space on the middle floor, completes the main house in great style. It comprises:

• two double bedrooms with en-suite shower rooms and access, via a wall of glass doors, to a secluded, shared terrace
• a bespoke cinema room with dark grey panelling and an array of sink-in sofas and armchairs arranged over three tiers
• a steam room clad in iridescent tiles
• a well-equipped gym
• a massage room with WC and wet room
• the staff's quarters

The guesthouse apartments

Located a few metres behind the main house, the guesthouse hosts two independent apartments, one on the ground floor, one on the first floor (accessed via an external flight of steps).

Each apartment comprises an open-plan living space with kitchen, a double bedroom, and a shower room. The many windows (which recall the main house), offer great views out to sea.

Outside

Michaela’s gardens and grounds are a delight to explore and offer plenty of opportunities for carefree al fresco living. Wherever you go (as with the internal areas), you will bump into fascinating statues. Some gaze out to sea, others appear to be showing guests the way to their favourite spots.

The communal space and the bedroom on the middle floor of the main house open out onto the magnificently panoramic pool terrace, which runs along the entire façade of the property. First is a stylishly furnished lounge area, a dining table, and a few comfy loungers. A couple of steps from here is the centrepiece, the fabulous, 22m-long, heatable, aquamarine infinity pool, which has a shallow corner that’s perfect for cooling off and lazy wallowing. To one end of the pool terrace is a bar, while to the other is a sunken, well-cushioned sitting area with firepit. Enchanting views pan out over the sparkling waters of the Ionian Sea to the mountains of the Greek mainland on the horizon.

Around 30m below the pool terrace is the private sea access, which includes a decked solarium with neatly lined-up loungers, and a jetty with steps for easy access into the sea. To arrive at this irresistible spot, one may either take a succession of easy metal staircases through the tiered gardens, or a lift, which descends through the rock from just below the swimming pool. The decked seafront solarium and the descent through the gardens is framed by luxuriant coastal vegetation and mature trees, all of which make for a very private environment.

Back up at the main house, accessed from the kitchen, is an open-air cooking area, while outside the main entrance is a peaceful sitting area secluded by a mighty stone wall. The top floor bedrooms open out onto panoramic, sea-view balconies (one shared, one private to the main suite); the two lower floor bedrooms share a comfortably furnished, covered terrace.

The grounds continue around the guest apartments, where there is a herb garden, shade-giving trees and a few quiet sitting areas.

Due to the nature of the property, including terraces low walls and several drops around the grounds, children should be supervised at all times.
Michaela features a fantastic infinity pool, offering swimmers stunning views while in the pool. There is a drop off the infinity side so we recommend children are supervised at all times. Please refer to our general safety page if you would like more information about infinity pools.

Please note that due to the risk of wildfires, the use of fire pits and barbecues is restricted when the weather is windy or temperatures are high. This is particularly common in July and August. More information will be provided in your House Guide and via your local specialist.
