Inside

accommodation at Barbanichos is spread over a main house on two floors and a guesthouse.

From the terrace running along the façade of the main house, a door with an old stone surround leads into a generously-sized living area. One is immediately struck not only by the character, but also by the sensitive restoration that has successfully combined original features with quality modern additions. The stone walls, which incorporate the old bread oven in one corner, blend harmoniously with recently installed vaulted wooden ceilings, smooth concrete flooring and a wood burner. Furnished with a comfy, classically styled sofa, matching armchairs and a judicious scattering of antique pieces, this calm space has a welcoming, relaxing atmosphere.

An opening at one end of the living area leads into a large kitchen-diner, which, like the rest of the house, is in-keeping with the aesthetic principles of the renovation: set against original flagstone flooring, white-washed timber ceilings and creamy stone walls, is a bespoke wooden kitchen framed by reclaimed decorative tiles. A convivial dining table sits to one side, a pair of windows bring in the light, and a door opens out onto the main terrace.

Accommodation on the ground floor of Barbanichos is completed by a generously proportioned bedroom accessed from the main terrace. Cool flagged flooring and lofty wood-beamed ceilings create an airy atmosphere, while a modern four-poster double bed and an en-suite bathroom with tub and shower attachment ensure comfort.

The remaining two bedrooms of the main house, both double-twins, are located on the first floor, which is accessed from the back via an external flight of steps leading from the side of the kitchen. One has a colourfully tiled en-suite bathroom with tub and shower attachment, the other an en-suite shower room. Both have super sea views.

Last comes the guesthouse, which is situated some 15m below the main house by the pool. Here there is a double bedroom with en-suite shower room.

Outside

enclosed in mature gardens of olive trees, aromatic shrubs and flowering plants, and looking out over the fertile, multi-hued greenery of northeast Corfu's hills, Barbanichos's terraced gardens are a true oasis.

Immediately outside (and accessed from) the living room, the kitchen-diner and ground floor bedroom, is a long stone terrace shaded by a vine-covered pergola and furnished for sitting and al fresco dining. This is a wonderful spot in which to gather, gaze out at the sea views and dine late into the starry night.

Bordered by dry stone walls, steps lead down through the gardens to the lovely pool area. With its infinity edge, the pool offers mesmerising views out across the Channel of Corfu to the mountains of Albania, a real distraction for any one attempting to get in a few lengths.

Barbanichos features a fantastic infinity pool, offering swimmers stunning views while in the pool. There is a drop off the infinity side so we recommend children are supervised at all times. Please refer to our general safety page if you would like more information about infinity pools.

Due to the nature of the property including terraces low walls and several drops around the grounds, children must be supervised at all times.

The number of steps that must be negotiated to get into and/or around this property might make it unsuitable for people with mobility problems.

Please note that all the bedrooms are accessed externally and do not communicate internally with the communal areas.

Please note that due to the risk of wildfires, the use of fire pits and barbecues is restricted when the weather is windy or temperatures are high. This is particularly common in July and August. More information will be provided in your House Guide and via your local specialist.
