Everything was just perfect at Casa Tijali. It's a lovely villa with a great pool, lovely gardens and great location. Loved the short walk to the beautiful beach and the crystal blue sea. It's a fantastic location to just relax in the peace and quiet, no noise, no traffic, no neighbours yet close enough to shops and restaurants if needed. We rarely re-visit holiday locations but will be back to Corsica and will 100% use The Thinking Traveller again. Thanks.

About the property
Inside
accommodation at Casa Tijali is laid out over a main house and a guest suite accessed from the gardens.At the heart of the main house is a luminous open-concept communal space with lofty, blond-beamed ceilings with integrated lighting, sandy flooring, and white walls. To one side is a light wooden dining table and chairs, and a well-equipped, clutter-free kitchen. To the other, partly separated from the kitchen by a semi-partition wall, is a living area furnished with a comfortable sofa and a pair of mid-century modern-style armchairs gathered around a fireplace. Two sets of charming Provençal-style doors allow the space to flow out onto the main terrace.
An opening near the dining table allows the space to flow into an L-shaped corridor, off which one may access a guest bathroom and two bedrooms:
- a double with en-suite shower room, garden views and access to the main terrace
- a twin with en-suite bathroom with shower and sink, and garden views
Outside
Casa Tijali is immersed in a flourishing, leafy garden that offers plenty of space for everyone to come together or find their own quiet spot. Mature trees, emerald lawns, and borders planted with low-lying plants typical of the surrounding coastal landscape create a tranquil, secluded atmosphere. From here and there in the grounds, one can glimpse the sparkling blue sea on the horizon.Accessed from the communal space and the double bedroom in the main house is a sociable terrace with a shaded dining area and a scattering of seating. A couple of steps down from here is the lovely pool, which is surrounded on two sides by decking and served by a shady wooden pergola.
Back on the main terrace, a wooden boardwalk leads through the trees, past a shady table and chairs, and on to the guest suite, which has its own furnished terrace.
About the Area
Casa Tijali sits on the little beach-flanked promontory of Pianottoli on the south coast of Corsica, just a 7-minute walk from the idyllic sandy bay of Plage de la Tour. There are many other sandy bays to choose from in the area, some walkable, others a short drive.
There's a restaurant less than 10 minutes' walk away, while other amenities, including a wider selection of eateries, can be found in nearby Pianottoli, a 10-minute drive.
A must-see for anyone staying at Casa Tijali is Bonifacio, one of Corsica's most dramatically positioned and picturesque towns. Teetering perilously on a high cliff above the sea it offers sublime views over to Sardinia and some good restaurants and bars.
Less than an hour's drive northwest is the panoramically positioned, mediaeval town of Sartène, whose pretty labyrinth of streets gives an idea of Corsican life away from the coastline.
Heading up the east coast one comes to a series of delightful beaches, including those of Santa Giulia, Tamaricciu and Palombaggia, and Porto Vecchio, a picturesque seafront town with a good selection of shops, bars and restaurants, a street market, and views down over its large natural harbour.
Further afield on the west coast is the island's capital, Ajaccio, which is well worth a visit, not least so you can say that you've been to the birthplace of the great Napoleon.
Considerations
During the high season, especially at weekends, you may occasionally hear planes arriving at the nearby Figari airport.

We had a very peaceful stay at Casa Tijali. It's a great location for a quiet, relaxing holiday. The garden, both during the day and at night when the lighting was on, was very pretty. And it was lovely to be able to walk to the beach.
