Inside

accommodation at Arbitru is all on one floor, except for a mezzanine living area. Furnishings, fittings and the soothing palette of greys, whites and sandy browns have been chosen to imbue the whole with a cool, sleek modern ambience that is both calming and practical.

The main entrance takes one into a voluminous open-concept living and dining area divided by a sculptural central staircase. To one side are a couple of sink-in sofas and a TV, to the other a dining table. Two large sliding glass doors on either side of this space bring in the views and provide access to both the gardens and the fabulous pool area.

This space flows naturally into a sleek, extremely well-equipped contemporary kitchen, featuring a large central island-with induction hobs and a floor-to-ceiling wall of cupboards that incorporate twin ovens, a wine chiller and a double-fronted fridge. A large sliding glass door opens out onto the external dining area, making al fresco meals de rigueur.

The staircase at the centre of the open-plan living and dining area leads up to a mezzanine gallery, which is furnished with more sofas and easy chairs. Picture windows offer lovely views of the pool area, the surrounding countryside and, a few kilometres away, the sea.

A light-filled corridor overlooking the pool area leads from the living area to the main sleeping quarters, comprising three good-sized bedrooms, while a fourth bedroom is accessed from another door in the living area. In total, there are three doubles and a double-twin. Each bedroom has its own en-suite shower room and access to the terraces and gardens that wrap around the property.

Outside

the walled gardens that surround Arbitru spread out for around one acre. The highlight of this space is, without a doubt, the extensive split level decked terrace that is accessed from the living and dining area, the kitchen, and, via a wooden boardwalk, the bedrooms. The upper level is given over to a shaded al fresco dining area and an invitingly furnished lounge, while the lower level, accessed via five beautifully crafted steps, is home to the beautiful cerulean-blue heated pool.

Where the decking ends, the Mediterranean gardens begin and there is plenty of space to wander, explore and have fun.

You may wish to know that Arbitru's pool has a single depth of 1.55m.

Two cats may be seen in the villa grounds. However, they will not enter the house unless encouraged to do so.
