Tenuta della Cava was absolutely magical, divine and flawless - gorgeous grounds and home. We felt so lucky to stay there. The spa room was a particular treat, and our Local Specialist was always responsive and helpful! Would we return? Yes, absolutely! The villa was exceptional and we love The Thinking Traveller.

Tenuta della Cava was beautiful. Tons of space for our whole family. The kitchen was very well equipped and we loved all of the sitting areas.

The service leading up to us visiting Tenuta della Cava was very good, and the layout of the house was good for a mixed family.

What stood out about Tenuta della Cava was the quality of the villa's design and furnishings and the generous space and layout. It is very well located for visiting the beautiful towns of Noto, Ragusa, Modica and Syracuse and many lovely beaches Our stay was very comfortable and relaxing.

Tenuta della Cava was truly everything we asked for and more. What we loved was the old world charm mixed with modern amenities. The large, well-appointed kitchen was perfect and the star of the house was the wellness area with the jacuzzi, sauna, and steam and massage room. What could be better after a long full day of touring.

Located just outside the baroque town of Rosolini at the head of one of the deep gorges that bury deep into the Iblei Mountains, Tenuta della Cava sits at the centre of a 105-acre farm of olive, carob and almond trees. Guests are welcome to explore the estate, which is home to numerous archaeological treasures, including the rupestrian hermitage and churches of Croce Santa.
Rosolini, like most of the towns in southeast Sicily was rebuilt in pure baroque style after the earthquake of 1693. It is home to a good selection of shops, cafés, restaurants and other amenities and boasts a wonderful central piazza.
Nearby are the other towns of the Val di Noto UNESCO World Heritage Site, including Noto, Modica, Ragusa, Scicli, and Palazzolo Acreide (this latter with an impressive Greek archaeological site).
In terms of beaches, one can head east to San Lorenzo, Marzamemi and the beautiful natural reserve of Vendicari, or south to the sandy coastline around Pozzallo.
If hiking or mountain-biking is your thing, Tenuta della Cava is perfect, as trails lead straight off the estate up a deep gorge. Alternatively, there is some spectacular scenery in the neighbouring gorges of Cava d'Ispica, Cassibile and Pantalica.
Syracuse is just over half an hour's drive away, and a day there is highly recommended to anybody spending time at Tenuta della Cava.

A helicopter trip in Sicily over Etna and to the Aeolian Islands is a highly moving experience, enough to reduce grown men and women to tears! Book with us for a truly unforgettable addition to your Sicilian holiday.

Nero D’Avola, Cerasuolo di Vittoria, Frappato, Syrah and Moscato Bianco are just a few of the grape varieties cultivated in the Noto area, and we heartily recommend a vineyard visit during your stay. We know the right people and the most prestigious wineries in the area, and we’d be delighted to arrange a chauffeured wine tasting tour with lunch for you.

From here until the southeasternmost tip of Sicily, the coastline is an uninterrupted stretch of sandy beach, dotted with picturesque little resort towns, including Punta Secca (Inspector Montalbano's home), Marina di Ragusa, Donnalucata, Cava d'Aliga, Sampieri and Marina di Modica. The last strip, made up of several miles of dunes, is where the Allied forces landed in the 2nd World War. At the southernmost tip of Sicily is Isola Delle Correnti, offering an almost African scenario. Indeed, here we are considerably further south than Tunis.Just around the southeastern tip and heading north up the east coast, are the beaches of Marzamemi, San Lorenzo and Vendicari Nature Reserve. The reserve's salt water lagoons and varieties of flora offer the ideal habitat for a wide range of fauna, including nesting turtles and migrating flamingos.Continuing up the east coast, between Vendicari and the historic Greek town of Syracuse, are the popular sandy beaches of Marina di Noto, Calabernado, Marina di Avola, Gelsomineto, Fontane Bianche and Arenella.
