Inside

accommodation at Oltremare is laid out over the top (3rd) floor of a small apartment block.

Refurbished with an unerring sense of style and a subtle artistry, Oltremare oozes charm and class. Feature walls of geometrically patterned tiles in cream and soft pastel hues offset the warm, earthy palette of ochre, burnt sienna and fawn used elsewhere. Discreet contemporary lighting adds to the alure, while the furnishings are a harmonious blend of classic and understate modern. The resulting ambience is at once welcoming, elegant and calming.

The communal hub of the apartment is an open-plan space comprising a grey-blue, sink-in sofa, a pair of well-cushioned, curvaceous wicker easy chairs, and round dining table and sleek kitchen area. A wall of sliding glass doors bring in the wonderful sea views and allow the space (and the flooring) to flow outside onto the panoramic terrace.

There are two bedrooms:

• a romantic double with sea views and sliding glass doors opening out onto the terrace
• a smaller but equally welcoming double-twin

The two bedrooms share a beautifully finished and wonderfully atmospheric bathroom with a large walk-in shower.

Outside

al fresco life at Oltremare revolves around a wonderfully panoramic terrace with views out over the roofs of Taormina and across the sparkling waters of the Ionian Sea to Calabria on the Italian mainland.

Accessed from the living area and the main bedroom, the terrace is shaded by a large cane-shaded pergola, under which is a comfy sofa to one side, a pair of stylish easy chairs in the middle, and a dining table topped with beautiful, deep-blue tiles to the other.

Glass balustrades, a variety of plants and an irresistible al fresco shower complete the picture.

In reality, this wonderful terrace is only part of Oltremare’s outdoor realm, as Taormina’s picture-perfect old town centre, with its historic sites, and its cafés, bars and restaurants is literally on your doorstep.

Oltremare is located on the third floor of an apartment building in the centre of bustling Taormina and therefore has neighbours. If you're looking for seclusion and total peace, this is not the property for you. If you love being at the centre of a vibrant historic town, however, it's hard to beat.

The number of steps that must be negotiated to get into this property (there is no lift) might make it unsuitable for people with limited mobility.

Please note that the centre of Taormina is virtually car-free and there is no private parking at Oltremare. Taormina does get busy, especially in the summer months, so parking places can sometimes be difficult to find. This said, for everyday life at Oltremare, you won't need a car, as everything you need is right on your doorstep. If you wish to make the occasional excursion, why not let us arrange a driver?
