The jeweller's dream
Masseria Gargallo has been conceived by its owner, a well-known jewellery designer, as a colourful and ingeniously inventive homage to Sicilian artistry and craftsmanship. The original features and floors of the property have been retained wherever possible, and furnishings, fabrics and fittings are a fascinating mix of the contemporary and the traditional. Outside, beautifully tended gardens wrap around the property, culminating in the pièce de résistance, an utterly irresistible pool.

Masseria Gargallo is a fab villa in a wonderful position. The interiors are incredibly eclectic, the pool and grounds amazing. The housekeeper and cook was a wonderful person.

Masseria Gargallo is an impressive and spacious villa that had the charm of old features but with the comforts needed for modern living. Having the freedom of a villa and the luxury of a caretaker, cook and housekeeper was perfect. We would return because we had such a lovely time and there are still things to do!

Masseria Gargallo had so much personality and is in a super location to visit Ortigia and the beautiful coastline. We had a fabulous week in a wonderful villa with excellent support before and during our stay. We would return to Masseria Gargallo because it had everything we wanted and needed.

Masseria Gargallo sits just outside the fascinating, historic and beautiful town of Syracuse, whose beating heart, the island of Ortygia, boasts one of Italy's loveliest piazzas and a maze of charming streets lined with independent shops, restaurants and bars. Neapolis, just outside the centre, is home to a fabulous archaeological site and museum, both of which we heartily recommend. Also within easy driving distance of Masseria Gargallo are the white sandy beaches of Fontane Bianche, and a cluster of must-see towns, including Noto, Modica and Ragusa. A little further afield but well worth the trip are Catania and Mount Etna.

A helicopter trip in Sicily over Etna and to the Aeolian Islands is a highly moving experience, enough to reduce grown men and women to tears! Book with us for a truly unforgettable addition to your Sicilian holiday.

Nero D’Avola, Cerasuolo di Vittoria, Frappato, Syrah and Moscato Bianco are just a few of the grape varieties cultivated in the Noto area, and we heartily recommend a vineyard visit during your stay. We know the right people and the most prestigious wineries in the area, and we’d be delighted to arrange a chauffeured wine tasting tour with lunch for you.

From here until the southeasternmost tip of Sicily, the coastline is an uninterrupted stretch of sandy beach, dotted with picturesque little resort towns, including Punta Secca (Inspector Montalbano's home), Marina di Ragusa, Donnalucata, Cava d'Aliga, Sampieri and Marina di Modica. The last strip, made up of several miles of dunes, is where the Allied forces landed in the 2nd World War. At the southernmost tip of Sicily is Isola Delle Correnti, offering an almost African scenario. Indeed, here we are considerably further south than Tunis.Just around the southeastern tip and heading north up the east coast, are the beaches of Marzamemi, San Lorenzo and Vendicari Nature Reserve. The reserve's salt water lagoons and varieties of flora offer the ideal habitat for a wide range of fauna, including nesting turtles and migrating flamingos.Continuing up the east coast, between Vendicari and the historic Greek town of Syracuse, are the popular sandy beaches of Marina di Noto, Calabernado, Marina di Avola, Gelsomineto, Fontane Bianche and Arenella.
