The Area
Casa Luza is set in rolling hills near the fascinating baroque town of Noto and the beautiful nature reserve of Vendicari.
Noto is arguably the most perfect of a string of sublime baroque towns (including Modica, Ragusa and Scicli) that constitute the UNESCO World Heritage Site of the Val di Noto. Rebuilt in flamboyant style following a major earthquake in 1693, they are masterpieces of flair, style and town planning.
Vendicari Nature Reserve, meanwhile, boasts some of the finest sandy beaches in Sicily and is also home to migrating flamingos, sea turtles and a host of other wildlife.
If hiking in the hills is your thing, then there is some spectacular scenery in the rushing streams and waterfalls of Cassibile and at the Paleolithic burial sites in the dramatic valley of , Pantalica.
Syracuse is just half an hour's drive away, and a day there is highly recommended to anybody spending a week or two at Casa Luza.
