At the gates of Ostuni
A handsome, evocative villa dating back to 1712, Villa Lorans rises in stately fashion amidst nearly 10 acres of private gardens, pine woods and olive groves. This utterly tranquil setting belies the fact that the Adriatic coast is just 15 minutes away, and Ostuni, one of Puglia’s loveliest and most character-filled towns, is only a 3-minute drive. A conservative restoration project has breathed new life into Villa Lorans, while at the same time incorporating all manner of 21st-century comforts, contemporary design elements, and an enticing sea green pool.

Villa Lorans is set in the heart of the Valle d'Itria, just a 3-minute drive from gorgeous old-town centre of Ostuni, and between 15 and 30 minutes from a series of beaches and lidos of the Adriatic coast.
The surrounding landscape is what one could define as "archetypal" Puglia: rolling hills shelving down to the coastal plane, grove upon grove of centuries-old olive trees, trulli cones everywhere you look, and a succession of charming and historic whitewashed towns bleached further by the southern Italian sun.
Nearby Ostuni, the whitest and arguably most scenic of all the Valle d'Itria's towns, is a gem with a achingly pretty old-town centre, whose labyrinth of narrow streets winds up and around a hill. Near the top is the Romanesque cathedral, and the vistas over the surrounding landscape and out to sea are magical. There's a great selection of restaurants, bar, cafés, independent shop and other amenities.
Cisternino, a vibrant market town, whose old town centre is an absolute pleasure to explore, spend time in, and make your own.
Other picturesque towns not to miss in the vicinity include Cisternino, Locorotondo (literally the "round place"), Alberobello, whose trulli-dense historic centre is a UNESCO World Heritage Site, and Martina Franca, the unofficial cultural capital of the Valle d'Itria.
The Adriatic coast below Ostuni has plenty to inspire, not least the numerous bays, beaches and chic lidos that can be found in and around Villanova, Torre Canne and the Torre Guaceto Nature Reserve.
A little further north are the historic seafront towns of Monopoli and Polignano a Mare, which can both be visited in a single day-trip.

The Valle d'Itria has a rich culinary heritage that combines simplicity, deliciously flavoursome ingredients, and respect for tradition. One of our culinary experiences in the area will give you a unique insight into one of Italy's most genuine and tasty expressions of cucina povera.

The former, which perches atop its very own hill, is yet another of those picture-perfect towns that the Valle d’Itria excels in. After spending a little time exploring its achingly beautiful streets and admiring the wonderful views, we recommend you head down to one of the terraced vineyards below to taste Locorotondo’s renowned white wine, arguably the best in Puglia. We know the best places, so just say the word and we’ll organise a tour anda tasting for you.
