Villa Kamares sits on the edge of the charming village of Selva di Fasano on the eastern flanks of the Valle d'Itria.
Down below is the town of Fasano and a plain of olive groves that runs for dozens of kilometres along Puglia's Adriatic coastline. Apart from Selva di Fasano, the nearest town for shopping, restaurants and other amenities is Fasano.
Most of your sight-seeing will centre on wonderful towns of the Valle d'Itria: Alberobello (a UNESCO Heritage Site thanks to its wonderful trulli-laden centre), Cisternino, Locorotondo, Martina Franca and Ostuni. All offer plenty to see, regular markets, as well as a good selection of bars, shops, restaurants and trattorie.
On the Adriatic coast to north, meanwhile, sit two of Puglia's loveliest seaside towns, Monopoli, and Polignano a Mare, both of which are about 30 minutes away.
One of the attractions of Villa Kamares is undoubtedly that guests may reach beautiful beach clubs, golf courses and spas nearby.
World-class sites a little further afield include the Baroque centre of Lecce and the stunning walled coastal towns of Otranto and Gallipoli.
One last recommendation is the ancient, UNESCO World Heritage town of Matera, which lies just over the Puglian border in Basilicata. Famed for its historic cave dwellings and as a location for numerous films, from The Passion of Christ to No Time to Die (James Bond), it is well worth a visit.
The Valle d’Itria boasts its own “wine road”, running between the towns of Locorotondo and Martina Franca. The former, which perches atop its very own hill, is yet another of those picture-perfect towns that the Valle d’Itria excels in. After spending a little time exploring its achingly beautiful streets and admiring the wonderful views, we recommend you head down to one of the terraced vineyards below to taste Locorotondo’s renowned white wine, arguably the best in Puglia. We know the best places, so just say the word and we’ll organise a tour anda tasting for you.
