Inside

accommodation at Villa Donna Maria is laid out over two floors.

The main entrance leads in, via a welcoming hallway, to a fabulously proportioned, open-concept space that’s cleverly designed to create three distinct areas in one: at either end, under church-high, white, wood-beamed ceilings, is a living area, the first a more formal affair with a sofa and armchairs gathered around a coffee table, the second a casual lounge with a commodious, L-shaped sofa, a corner fireplace, and a centrally positioned TV that ascends theatrically from a tailor-made cabinet. In the central area, under a lower ceiling, is the convivial dining area, which features a large, glass table surrounded by 10 comfy white dining chairs. In each area, wide banks of sliding glass doors bring in the views and allow seamless access to the large, shady main terrace and the pool area. United by hard-wood floors, and enlivened by coralline artworks and bibelots, this elegant, sophisticated space is the social hub of the villa, where everyone can come together.

Accessed from the living and dining areas is a large study with adjacent shower room, and an extremely well-equipped kitchen, which comes with plenty of country cabinets, black granite worktops, and a breakfast table.

Three steps lead down from the more formal living area to a hallway, off which is a guest WC and the principal bedroom, a spacious, romantic double with white-beamed ceilings, comfy armchairs, sea views, access to a section of the main terrace, and a fabulous en-suite bathroom with large walk-in shower, separate tub, and double sinks.

A flight of stairs leads down from the hallway outside the principal bedroom to the lower floor, which is home to:

• a children’s room with asymmetric bunkbeds, an en-suite shower room, and access to a little side terrace that opens out into the gardens
• a twin bedroom with garden access, a desk, a walk-through wardrobe and an en-suite shower room with double sinks
• a central living room with an L-shaped sofa, a couple of easy chairs and a TV
• a kitchen in the same style as the one upstairs
• a bedroom room with two sets of bunk beds, a walk-through wardrobe and an en-suite shower room with double sinks
• a twin bedroom with walk-through wardrobe and an en-suite shower room

The last two bedroom open out onto a side terrace with access both to the upper floor terraces (via steps), and to the self-contained wellness area. This latter comprises a large, extremely well-equipped gym, a sauna, a treatment room, and a shower room and WC.

The sixth and final bedroom is also on the lower floor, but accessed externally from the gardens. It hosts a double bedroom with sofa, an en-suite shower room, and a long walk-in wardrobe with a fridge and coffee station at the end.

Outside

Villa Donna Maria sits amidst a floral, verdant estate of nearly three acres, and there is an embarrassment of riches when it comes to al fresco pursuits.

Via three sets of wide, sliding glass doors, the fabulous open-plan living and dining area flows out onto an irresistible sea-view terrace that extends along the entire façade of the property. Shaded and secluded by a wooden extension of the roof, this space comes with a sitting area with comfortable sofas and easy chairs, and a large dining area to one end. The principal bedroom opens out onto its own section of this terrace.

A few steps from the al fresco living and dining area is the gorgeous infinity pool, which incorporates a hydromassage corner.

Steps to one end of the pool lead down onto a lawn, which connects to a sunken lounge area with a large, well-cushioned, U-shaped sitting area wrapping around a firepit.

The grounds have been landscaped with great care and attention to detail, and there’s a wide variety of Mediterranean flora on show, from cypress and olive trees to ornamental grasses and low-lying shrubs. Paths weave around the gardens, making exploration a real pleasure, and there are wonderful surprises to be had, not least the free-form fish pond at the bottom of the grounds. Served by a built-in sitting area, a suspended cocoon chair and a firepit, this is a tranquil spot in which to spend time gazing out to sea.

Outside the main entrance to Villa Donna Maria is a wide driveway encircling a central olive tree, and beyond this is the tennis court (which also has a basketball hoop and goalposts), an expanse of lawn, and more landscaped gardens.

Due to the nature of the property including terraces low walls and several drops around the grounds, we cannot accept bookings with children under the age of 6, children over the age of 7 must be supervised at all times.

Villa Donna Maria features a fantastic infinity pool, offering swimmers stunning views while in the pool. There is a drop off the infinity side so we recommend children are supervised at all times. Please refer to our general safety page if you would like more information about infinity pools.

The number of steps that must be negotiated to get into and/or around this property might make it unsuitable for people with mobility problems.

Please note that due to the risk of wildfires, the use of fire pits and barbecues is restricted when the weather is windy or temperatures are high. This is particularly common in July and August. More information will be provided in your House Guide and via your local specialist.
