Our Hand-Picked Guide to the Best Beaches on Patmos

Patmos is an island that you can keep returning to time after time. This is largely due to its beach life which comes in many forms. The facilitated beaches offer a large variety of watersports but there are also wilder bays immersed in tranquillity and away from the crowds.

Petra

Where: On the eastern coast, down the road from the town of Grikos.
Description: A popular pebbled stretch with calm, limpid waters and very comfortable deckchairs. Nearby, there is Grikos which has lots of cafes, bars and taverns for a quick bite.
Access: Very easy by car.

Psilli Ammos

Where: The far Southwestern coast
Description: Tucked in between 2 rocky slopes lies this dreamy fine-sand bay on the southernmost part of the island. Verdant trees provide natural shade, and a small beach bar provides simple refreshments.
Access: There is a parking spot about a 30 minute walk away from the beach. The hiking trail is not particularly difficult but sturdy shoes are advised.

Vagia

Where: The north-eastern stretch just 2km from the town of Kampos
Description: Peace and seclusion can be found in this small, wind protected bay. There are no deckchairs or umbrellas so make sure to bring your own as you take turns lying on shore and dipping into the calm waters.
