There's one ingredient that all recipes need: Love.
That's why we've teamed up with Katia Amore to offer our clients unique gastronomic experiences while on holiday in Sicily.
One of Sicily's best cookery teachers and food experts, Katia has been passing on her secrets and her passion for Sicilian cuisine since 2004, when she called time on her university research career in England and returned to her native Modica.
Her knowledge, much of it gained from her food-living parents and grandparents, and her insatiable curiosity make her a fascinating companion in the kitchen for both amateurs and professionals alike - when Gary Rhodes came to do some research into Sicilian food, he was pointed in the direction of Katia.

Three-course cookery classes
All classes are taught in English (or Italian or German) and begin with a short introduction to Sicilian culinary traditions.
Then it's time for the practical, hands-on cooking experience, at the end of which (after about 3 hours, including a coffee break on the panoramic terrace) it will be time for a feast: the three-course meal you prepared, accompanied by some excellent Sicilian wines.
1. Cooking class followed by lunch or dinner, drinks
2. Cooking class followed by lunch or dinner, drinks + wine-tasting
3. Cooking class followed by lunch or dinner, drinks + olive oil tasting
4. Cooking class with a chocolate based menu, followed by lunch or dinner, drinks + guided visit to Antica Dolceria Bonajuto (Monday excluded)
Pasta, Sicilian street food and chocolate making classes
1. Love pasta - learn how to make 3 types of pasta
2. Love street food - arancini and scacce making
3. Modica chocolate demonstration and tasting
NB: Katia's school is up 80 steps from Corso Umberto 1 so those with mobility problems are strongly advised to contact us before deciding to take a class.
Terms and Conditions
Think Experiences are provided by independent local companies which are neither owned not controlled by The Thinking Traveller and for whom we act only as an agent. Whilst every effort is made to keep the description of every Think Experience up to date, the provider may cancel or amend your experience at their discretion for many reasons including where it considers that there may be a risk to your comfort, health or safety. Some excursions/activities (i.e. helicopter rides, excursions on Mount Etna, boat charter, etc.) may contain an element of risk or require a good level of physical fitness, and, if in doubt, you should contact us so we can put you in contact directly with the local provider before deciding to buy. Please also check that you are covered for the activity(ies) in question by your travel insurance policy.
In acting in the capacity of an agent on behalf of the provider, your contract will be with that provider and will be subject to their standard terms and conditions, and it will not form part of your contracted holiday arrangements with us. Any complaint (including any allegation of breach of contract or negligence) should be taken up with the excursion/activity provider directly. We will do our best to assist you, but will have no liability in relation to the performance of that contract.
