Detailed villa description
Inside: accommodation at Marea is all on one level. The main entrance takes one directly into a large welcoming living area, whose high white-beamed ceilings, comfy sofas and wall-to-wall sliding glass doors accessing the shady verandah combine to create an extremely airy and light-filled atmosphere. At one end of the living area is the spacious, well-equipped kitchen-diner, which seamlessly connects to the main al fresco dining area. A door at the opposite end of the living room opens into the master bedroom with a four-poster bed, in-room shower and en-suite bathroom. Another door in the living area leads to a hallway, which acts as the main hub for the rest of the accommodation at Marea: a shower room, a bright double bedroom and a children's room with bunk beds and en-suite shower room. Furnishings and decorative elements are at once eclectic and unfussy, subtly underscoring Marea's beach house soul.
Outside: any description of Marea's outdoor areas must begin with the long shady verandah that runs along the entire façade of the house. Here, accessed from both the living room and the kitchen-diner, are some superbly comfortable day beds for reclining, snoozing, reading or gazing out to sea, and a large dining table for leisurely breakfasts, lunches and dinners. To the front and on one side of the house is a large lawn surrounding a proud, centuries-old olive tree. Marea's magical added value begins at the end of the garden, where an easy path takes you down a long, wide expanse of sand, lapped by the enticing, shallow waters of the azure Mediterranean Sea.
