About the Villa
A superbly refined, elegant villa with generously proportioned suites, extensive gardens, a 25m-long pool and soothing views of the surrounding olive groves.
As its name might suggest, Domus Olivae sits at the centre of an organic olive estate. The spacious, luxuriously appointed accommodation wraps around a beautiful stone-flagged courtyard and flows out onto manicured lawned gardens, where, in pride of place, sits the stunning lava-stone pool.
"Domus Olivae was spectacular - interior-furnishings, grounds and pool. The cook was absolutely wonderful. The food was terrific, exactly when we wanted it and served beautifully. The housekeeping of the villa and our rooms was very good.
We are fortunate to be a well traveled family with previous stays at wonderful villas around Europe and the Caribbean. Domus Olivae was by far the best." LB, US, May 2019

Inside: accommodation at Domus Olivae comprises six generously proportioned suites with lofty vaulted ceilings, luxurious en-suite bathrooms and access to al fresco areas. The front door takes one in from the gorgeous courtyard to an entrance hall. A door to the left leads one into the first suite, comprising a separate sitting room with courtyard access, a double-twin bedroom, and en-suite bathroom with a tub and a shower. Back in the entrance hall, an opening opposite the front door accesses a second impressive hallway, featuring high vaulted ceilings decorated with Liberty Style frescoes and an opulent Murano chandelier. On either side of this hallway, doors open into two more suites, each with a separate sitting room, a double-twin bedroom, an en-suite bathroom (one with a tub and a shower, one with tub and shower attachment), and access to the a large terrace overlooking the gardens. Back in the first hallway, a hidden door to the right opens to reveal a flight of stairs, which leads up to the fabulous master suite on the first floor (also accessed via a lift). Here there is a super-spacious double bedroom with balcony, garden and sea views, an en-suite bathroom with a tub and a shower, a little terrace overlooking the courtyard, and a separate sitting area served by a second bathroom with shower only. Back once more in the first hallway, a second door on the right leads through to a hall area (also home to the lift to the master suite), and on to a snug TV room with armchairs gathered around a decorative fireplace. Continuing straight on past a guest bathroom, one soon comes to the impressively roomy, light-filled communal area, furnished with numerous sofas and easy chairs and a large, convivial dining table served by a professionally equipped kitchen that has been designed to delight even the most demanding chef. A quartet of French windows open out from the living and dining area, bringing in the light and views and providing access to a terrace looking out over the lawned gardens and the pool.
The two remaining suites are accessed from the courtyard. Known as the Limoni Suites thanks to the lemon trees that perfume the air outside, each one has a double-twin bedroom with sitting areas, and an en-suite shower room.
Outside: an arched gateway leads from the parking area into beautiful central courtyard (a baglio), off which the main house and three of the suites are accessed. Its stone-flagged surface is furnished with chairs and tables and enlivened by a colourful array of Mediterranean flora, including fragrant jasmine, shady palms and vibrant lemon trees. The main communal living and dining area and two of the suites on the ground floor of the main house spill out onto large terraces overlooking the immaculate grounds, which, apart from one area, which is given over to a formal Italian garden, are laid to lawn. The terraces are well-equipped for sitting and, to one end under a lovely pergola, for dining. It is particularly pleasant here at night when the stars and moon take over the sky and the cooling evening breezes rise up the valley from the sea below. Down a few steps from the al fresco dining area is the incredible 25m-long pool, whose black lava-stone cladding imparts an irresistible cobalt blue hue to the water. On the other side of the courtyard there is also a thriving vegetable garden, the produce of which is made available to guests.
Service: the staff at Domus Olivae, including villa manager, maids and cook, will ensure you never have to lift a finger during your stay: the maids will service your rooms (from Monday to Saturday) and change your linen and towels mid-week; the villa manager will oversee that everything is in perfect order; and the cook will be on hand to prepare delicious meals for you (breakfast, light lunch and dinner each day). Just let the villa manager or your Local Manager know a day in advance whether you will be dining at home and the staff will see to the rest. Please note that the cook's services are included in the rental price but the cost of ingredients is extra and should be paid locally on presentation of receipts.
The Domus Olivae estate produces an award-winning DOP extra virgin olive oil produced from local Tonda Iblea olives. Guests are encouraged to have a tasting during their stay.

The discreet owner occupies in a self-contained apartment on the property. You will probably not notice he is there, unless, that is, you would like to quiz him about the harvest and his wonderful olive oil!
