Detailed villa description
Inside: a series of elegant arched French windows run along Trullo Rosmarino’s handsome façade, offering access to various reception rooms and, to one end, the spacious, welcoming kitchen. With its huge bespoke wooden island, serving as both prep space and breakfast bar, its sleek stainless steel features and its quality appliances, this is a kitchen that will delight keen cooks. At one end, large glass doors lead out to the enchanting al fresco courtyard dining area, while at the other is a small but bright living area overlooking and accessing the gardens to the front of the house, and the elegant dining room, featuring a long table, fireplace, creamy stone barrel ceilings and more French windows accessing the gardens. Off one end of the dining room is the TV room, while off the other, passing through a little study area, one comes to another living room, the focal point of the trullo section of Trullo Rosmarino.
The sleeping quarters of Trullo Rosmarino are in three different areas. Stairs lead from behind the kitchen to the first floor and the master suite, named Limone, which comprises a large double bedroom, a superb bathroom with quartz bath and a private terrace with views over the gardens, the pool and the surrounding countryside. Two more bedrooms are accessed from the trullo living area. The first, Fico, a double-twin, is in a characterful trullo cone and is served by an adjacent bathroom with a romantic sunken bath in a stone alcove, giving bathers the feeling of being in a luxurious hammam. Fico is connected via a door to one of the garden bedrooms, Lavanda. The second bedroom, Olivo, a double, is also in a trullo cone and has its own en-suite shower room but no external windows, typical of many trulli, where the prime concern was staying cool in the summer and warm in the winter. The remaining sleeping accommodation is accessed from the side gardens, where there are two elegantly furnished bedrooms, Lavanda (a double-twin) and Basilico (a double), each with their own independent access and en-suite shower rooms. Lavanda is connected via an internal door - which can be used or locked depending on your requirements - to Fico, one of the trullo bedrooms.
Outside: Trullo Rosmarino is set in extensive three-acre grounds, planted with lawns, olive and fruit trees and colourful flowers. Where the grounds end, the countryside begins, making this a very peaceful spot for lovers of rural living. In the immediate environs of the house, lawned gardens run on three sides, offering plenty of possibilities for play, relaxation or sipping aperitifs. Along the façade of Trullo Rosmarino is a fully furnished outdoor living area, while the lawns outside the garden bedrooms (Rosmarino and Basilico) are also equipped for lounging, reclining and relaxing. On the fourth side, however, is our favourite spot: the delightful walled garden, perfumed with aromatic herbs, such as rosemary and lavender, and furnished with a large table for long convivial lunches and dinners. At one end of the house, a flight of steps takes one up to the panoramic first floor terrace, from where those fortunate enough to be staying in the master suite may access their kingdom! A short walk across the lawns in front of the house will soon get you to the secluded pool area, served by a large shaded pagoda and offering extensive views across the trulli-speckled countryside. Just a little way from here, back near the house, is a circular paved area framed by hanging vines. With its outdoor fire and comfy seating, it is the perfect spot to recline with a post-prandial liqueur under the canopy of stars twinkling in Puglia's night sky.
