Discover Corfu by boat

Chartering a skippered boat for a day trip from Corfu is the perfect way to discover the island’s spectacular coastline and explore parts of Corfu and its neighbouring islands that remain inaccessible to the majority of tourists.

Below are a few options specifically designed for The Thinking Traveller clients staying at any of our villas on Corfu.

1. Paxos & Antipaxos

The journey from Corfu to Paxos takes between 1 hour and 1 hour 15 minutes. On this trip, you will be shown the main sights of the picturesque island of Paxos before heading to its tiny sister, Antipaxos, where there will be plenty of time to stop for a swim in the transparent waters of its coastline. You can tailor this trip to suit your preferences – whether it be a longer lunch in one of Paxos’ idyllic seafront tavernas or more time to take a relaxing swim in the azure sea.

2. Erikoussa & Mathraki

These two pocket-sized islands (Erikoussa measures just 3.7 square metres) are situated off the northwest coast of Corfu and are notoriously difficult to reach from Kassiopi or by other means. Your skipper will take you along the beautiful north coast of Corfu before crossing over to the islands, where you can spend the day swimming, exploring coves, admiring the islands’ rich flora and fauna, relaxing on their sandy beaches and of course stopping for lunch at one of the friendly tavernas.

3. Northwest coast & Aghios Georgios

On this trip, you will discover the north coast of Corfu, stopping at the famous Canal D’Amour near Sidari for a leisurely swim before continuing around the northwest side of the island to Aghios Georgios. Here you will see a side to Corfu that few tourists get to experience: the rugged scenery of the long, sweeping bay is markedly different to the rest of the island, and you will stop for lunch at a hidden tavern (serving mainly fish and seafood dishes) that is almost inaccessible other than by sea.

4. Sagiada, mainland Greece

Sagiada is a quaint fishing village on the mainland, directly opposite Corfu Town. The village is famed throughout the local area for its fresh and reasonably priced fish and seafood and is a short, 45-minute boat trip away from Corfu. The itinerary for this trip can be entirely tailored to your wishes, such as stopping off for swims in the crystalline waters.

5. Boukari

Boukari is a hidden gem on the southeast coast of Corfu, highly appreciated by the locals for its delicious, fresh and cheap fish and seafood and the hearty home cooking of its tavernas. On the way to Boukari, you can stop off at the Palace of Mon Repos (birth place of the Duke of Edinburgh) and the famous Mouse Island. This tiny island, home to the 13th century monastery f Pantokrator, gains its name from the white stone staircase of the monastery, which from a distance resembles a giant mouse tail laid across the island.

6. Corfu Town in the evening*

This trip is the perfect way to zip across to Corfu Town for shopping, an aperitif or dinner in the late afternoon and evening. You will set off from Kassiopi at around 5pm, arriving at Corfu Town for 5.30pm and will be free to explore the fascinating island capital before departing for Kassiopi at around 10-10.30pm. The boat moors at the Old Port, which is the ideal spot to walk into the Old Town and Esplanade, the elegant Liston with its bars, cafés, restaurants and boutiques. Many of the charming shops open from 5.30 to 9.30pm on Tuesday, Thursday and Friday evenings, and enjoying an aperitif on the Liston, the most stylish part of town, is an absolute must.

For each of the above charters, you can choose from the 3 following vessels:

  • ‘Dolce Vita’ 350 HP 8.6 metre RIB
  • 'Vendetta’ 300 HP 7 metre RIB
  • ‘Family’ 250 HP 7 metre RIB

The maximum number of passengers for each boat model is 10 (adults & children) plus the skipper. Adult and child life jackets are provided and there is a canopy for shade if required.
