Detailed villa description
Inside: accommodation at Alati Cove is spread over two floors. The main entrance takes one into an impressive, generously proportioned and elegantly furnished living area, whose enormous picture window offers superb views out to sea. A doorway leads from the living space into a central hallway, the hub of the house, off which and via a corridor the rest of the ground floor accommodation is accessed. There is a splendid sea-view dining room, a double bedroom with en-suite shower room and views out to sea, a children’s twin room (no natural light) with en-suite shower room, and a guest bathroom. The corridor leads from the hallway to the contemporary kitchen and a double bedroom with en-suite shower room and more of those gorgeous sea views. At the end of the corridor, a door opens out onto the spectacular shaded pool area, of which more in the "outside" section below. A staircase leads from the hallway to the first floor, which is home to two dreamy double bedrooms, each with its own gorgeous shower room. One boasts spectacular sea views.
In terms of architecture and interior design, Alati Cove oozes charm, creativity and understated luxury: creamy polished concrete floors and wood-beamed ceilings run throughout, uniting the spaces in a cohesive whole; in the bedrooms, colourfully shaded suspended lights hang low, providing not only suffused illumination but also a distinctive decorative motif; in the bathrooms, ornately framed mirrors sit above geometric steel sinks, and elegantly curvaceous tubes bloom with sensuously shaped shower heads; joyful flashes of colour lift the mood and imbue a unique character to each individual space; walls are adorned with an eclectic and exotic mix of art and decorative objects.
Outside: with its natural stone walls and low-rise design, Alati Cove sits unobtrusively in a mature garden of tall shady pine trees, aromatic shrubs and Mediterranean flora. To the front of the property are a couple of panoramic sitting areas, from where one may gaze out to sea, catch up with one’s reading or sip on an aperitif as the sun sets. Just outside the main entrance is a huge round table served by a built-in barbecue area, offering the ideal setting for convivial al fresco dining. Impressive as this area might be, it is at the other side of the property, accessed via the gardens or internally from the ground floor corridor, that one finds the pièce de résistance: a theatrically designed, sea-view pool area, featuring a half-moon pool mirrored by a semi-circular covered lounge area with built-in, brightly cushioned daybeds. If all this were not enough, a short walk through the gardens will take you down to the transparent waters of the Ionian Sea and a secluded, white pebble beach shared with just one other villa.
