The Italian Job

"The Brides fashion team check into a historic palazzo reborn as a private villa

The vibe
The Palazzo Hedoné is a magical rustic villa nestled into Scicli's cliffs, overlooking the town's stunning Church of St. Bartholomew. It ca be only reached by a steep set of stairs ascending from a side street, and feels like a hideaway in the clouds. The landscaped terraced gardens and rooftop pool - complete with muslin-curtained rattan beds - all add to the sense that you've stumbled upon your very own slice of hen party heaven.

The look
When the current owners first bought the palazzo ?h was built in 1737) it was, in their words, a "wreck". Thanks to a painstaking three-year renovation project, Palazzo Hedoné now gives you the best of both worlds: a historic, romantic hideaway which is also an elegant Mediterranean retreat. The 10 bedrooms are uniquely decorated with silk-covered walls, antique four-poster beds, and a chic edit of vintage and modern decor. The pillow-strewn communal day beds are perfect for lounging and pre-dinner drinks after a hard day of sunbathing and sightseeing, then you can retire for a view evening with your hens (we suggest La Dolce Vita) in the private cave cinema!

We love
The dedicated, kind and knowledgeable staff - magical there when you want them, gone when you don't.
Dinner under the starts on the roof - think Sicilian specialities such as Spaghetti alla Palermitana (fresh past with anchovies, fennel and pine nuts).
Coffee and cake at Pasticceria Basile. We recommend their legendary Turk's Head - a pastry filled with sweet custard. Sublime.
