The distinctive conical-roofed trulli are characteristic of Puglia, often referred to as the 'heel' of Italy's boot. Vogue magazine describes how these constructions, which were once shepherds' houses, are often transformed today into the 'piece de resistance' of glamorous rental villas. Trullo Pinnacolo is featured as an excellent example of this, in which the trulli were converted into living accommodation.
