Where history comes alive

The Evening Standard

Jonathan Lorie shares his experience of a family holiday in Sicily with culture, gastronomy, sunshine and fun, with the best service from The Thinking Traveller.

"Our home for the week is the Casa Luza, a lovely villa in the olive-clad hills outside Noto. It's a classic Italian country house, with beamed ceilings and high chandeliers. Its French windows lead to an infinity pool with views of lemon groves and the sea. One evening we are served a meal in-house by loval cooks Beatrice and Juan Carlo. They explain the origins of Sicilian cuisine - a heady blend of Arab, Norman and Italian flavours."
