Journalist Arta Ghanbari explores the countless charms of Puglia while hosted in The Thinking Traveller's beautiful villas Trulli Andrea and Kyvos.
''The heel of Italy's boot is stamped with Baroque towns, pristine wild beaches and mouth-watering food and wine that rival that of anywhere in the Mediterranean, without the crowds''
''home is TrulliAndrea under The Thinking Traveller'sumbrella of villas. Made up of two sets of Trulli, each housing three bedrooms, Andrea is perfect for a large family or two looking for a remote idyll with plenty of space yet ultimate privacy. Plus, each has its own infinity pool overlooking the olive groves and the sea beyond''
'' Villa Kyvos is near Santa Maria di Leuca on the southernmost tip. I am greeted by the owners and their family cook Giuliana, who is working up a feast in the kitchen (guests can arrange this during their stay). Pittule (fried dough balls from Lecce) is followed by potato cakes, pastries with tomatoes, capers and oregano, and an assembly of grilled courgettes, aubergines and peppers in generous olive oil. A first course of homemade Puglian orecchiette excited the palate for the catch of the day on a bed of crispy potatoes. Kyvos is well positioned for day trips out to Gallipoli, Otranto, Galatina and Leuca for a slow lunch.''
