The Thinking Traveller
Top 5 in Puglia

When asked recently to list our Top 5 reasons for a holiday in Puglia, we had a problem: how to condense the region’s myriad charms into just a handful? Eventually, with a little input from our team, we managed to come up with a Top 5 list incorporating just about everything we love about Puglia. Find out more below!

1. Villages, towns and citiessss

Locorotondo

     The town of Locorotondo

Puglia is peppered with a host of fascinating villages, towns and cities, whose picturesque, atmospheric old town centres harbour a treasure trove of architectural, cultural and gastronomic delights.

2. Marvellous masserie

Masseria Acquadolce

     Masseria Acquadolce, Taurisano

If you’re looking for holiday accommodation that oozes character and understated luxury and abounds in space, we recommend you book a masseria, one of Puglia’s unique architectural “inventions”. Masseria Acquadolce would be a great choice.

3. Sandy beaches

Sandy beaches

     Marina di Felloniche

What would a summer holiday be without a day or two on the beach? Puglia has some of the loveliest and longest expanses of sandy beach anywhere in Italy. Lapped by transparent turquoise waters and served by chic, laid-back lidos, they are hard to resist.

4. Tempting trulli

Trullo Terra Dolce

     Trullo Terra Dolce, Ostuni

Nothing is quite as quintessentially Puglian as a trullo, the region’s second architectural “invention”. We have a fabulous range of lovingly renovated, stylishly furnished trulli with pools and dreamy gardens, a prime example of which is Trullo Terra Dolce.

     Traditional orechiette pasta from Puglia

Puglia produces about 40% of Italy’s olive oil and more wine than any other Italian region. Its genuine, homely cuisine is based on flavourful ingredients that are overwhelmingly grown, produced, reared and fished locally.
